A vendor certification is the process of validating performance and/or compliance with the requirements of established
standards developed by vendors (i.e. Microsoft, Cisco, IBM, etc.).
For example, an IT Professional may be interested in passing Microsoft's Windows 2000 MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
certification. This particular certification is "for professionals who analyze the business requirements and design and implement
the infrastructure for business solutions based on the Microsoft Windows® 2000 platform and Microsoft Windows Server System™."
Today, there are hundreds of certifications. Some are for entry level and many are for the Advanced IT Professional.
If you notice the signature for an IT Professional, they may sign their emails like this:
Best regards,
Tom Smith
MCSE, CCNP
This means this person passed difficult tests learning the "who, what, when, where and why" for a Microsoft (MCSE-Microsoft
Certified Systems Engineer) certification and a Cisco (CCNP-Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification.
Simply, these "Techies" are the people who tell management "these are the things I need you to buy to make sure the company's
online and offline networks operate properly."
