Pretty Easy...I got a 865/900
croyhenric22 on Friday, March 21, 2008
This test was a lot easier than i thought it would be. I studied for about a month and got an 865. It only took me about 15 minutes.
Know fault tolerance and the OSI model!
Hard Test
TechFlux on Saturday, February 16, 2008
I passed with a 603/900. I am new to the IT field and only have a few months of experience. Make sure you know your network operating systems like Novell and Unix because I had to guess on a lot of those. The OSI model is huge on the exam so make sure you know all the different layers and what they do.
Pretty tough

I passed this one with a 659. I did A LOT of studying, b/c I am new to te IT field. So I am very pleased to have passed on the first try. Knowing the OSI model is a huge part of the test and also knowing what to do in trouble shooting situations
Passed w/ a 595

ouch this was a hard test, I went through so many pdf style tests and still found myself guessing on a lot of things. TO PASS: Know the OSI model what devices work were and what protocals work were, know your cables/connectors/speeds/distances, VPNs, virtual lans, segmenting networks. NONE of my questions were open ended like: what connector goes on a 1000Base-LX? It was always a senerio. I found 2 of the answers always were N/A, but the remaining answers left you second guessing.
got a 703/900

A few bad questions. Had a couple questions on novell and unix, but none on mac. Know your commands such as ipconfig, netstat, nbtstat, ifconfig (unix), dig (unix), nslookup etc.. Know how they look (they have screen shot type questions), what they do, and how to use them. I would say about 20 of the 85 questions on my test were over those. Doesn't go into depth on subnetting. Knowing cable types and osi model dosn't hurt either.
Harder than I expected 576/900

I had revised thoroughly but found that they asked quite a lot of questions/stuff that I did not revise, i.e. questions on the apple mac protocol, unix and linux.
Fortunately, they asked quite a lot of questions on the port numbers, the OSI layer and netware interoperability( subjects which I am strong on). I found that I had plenty of time and that time was not an issue.
Average Test

I thought the test wasn't that hard I studied for 4 days for it but, I have a year of actual network experience but, for someone new to networking I would advise them to know the OSI model and understand what happens at each layer. Also, know the cables and the devices not only for the test but, for the future if you plan on being in the network field. Also, know the classes of IP addresses and the different protocols. This test is just an entry level test into Networking.I would recommend the Sybex book for Network + and the CBT Nuggets Network + 2005 cd-rom.
Not too hard...

I passed the test today with a score of 673. I studied with the study guide on this site as well as some practice questions from Test King. You need to know the OSI model & what hardware works at which layers and you also need to know about the different network utilities such as nbtstat, nslookup, ping, tracert, etc. I would also recommend getting familiar with common port numbers (i.e. ftp, http, smtp, etc.).
So-so...

Took and passed the exam this morning. Didn't do as well as I had hoped, but overall was happy with my score. Sharnyyang (user below) stated what to expect pretty well. There seemed to be a lot of questions relating to the various OS's when I took the test though, so it's definitely a good idea to know the commands and how clients connect to servers when they both have different OS's running them.
Passed with 700

Just took the test yesterday. The room was crowded, ended up in another room super quiet. Anyway, I thought it was ok. Had to admit that I just guessed about 4-5 questions. You must study and know the OSI well--Network, Session, and Datalink layers. Also, good to have knowledge with Unix, Apple Mac Os x, specifically connection to windows server, permission, and troublshoot commands, such as ifconfig. Other than that...usually an educated and process of elimination will serve you right but becareful though as you only have 1.5 min per question.
Good luck!
