SYNOPSIS • CCIE vs
Cisco’s exam 350-030, CCIE Voice includes both a written exam and hands-on lab exam as core requirements for the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification. It is a high level exam for IT professionals who have a very good understanding of those technologies and applications that comprise a Cisco Enterprise VoIP solution. A CCNP, CCDP, CCIP or CCSP are logical, yet not mandatory prerequisites for this set of exams. Passing the written exam is a prerequisite to taking the corresponding lab exam.

The lab exam costs $1250 USD and must be taken on-site at a Cisco authorized lab testing center.

Cisco does not publish the pass score for the written exam: “Pass marks are set by using statistical analysis and are subject to change.” This exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions and lasts 2 hours. The lab exam is a one day eight hour practical exam. In terms of its scoring: “Each configuration scenario and problem has pre-assigned point values. The candidate must obtain a minimum mark of 80% to pass.”

The topics covered by this exam include:

  • Campus Design
  • QoS
  • Architecture and Protocols
  • SMDI
  • Security
  • Capacity Planning (Voice gateway/Network)
  • Dial Plan
  • High Availability Considerations
  • Video
  • Echo Theory
  • Fault Diagnosis
  • SIP Proxy
  • Coexistence/Migration
  • Unified Messaging
  • Capacity Planning (Application Level)
  • Call Processing
  • Manageability Considerations
  • 911/E911 considerations

Untitled Document > Persistent Group Chat: An Approach for More Profitable Team Communications : Unlike email, instant messages (IMs) do not allow group communication; nor do they persist -- you can't hold on to them for as long as you wish. Persistent group chat, however, allows businesses to organize persistent dialogue around business-critical topics, and keep them for easy retrieval later.
