CCIE Routing Exam 350-001: CCIE Routing and Switching Written Qualification Exam
E X A M   D I F F I C U L T Y
SYNOPSIS CCIEvs
Cisco’s
exam 350-001, CCIE Routing and Switching includes both a written exam and
hands-on lab exam as core requirements for the Cisco Certified Internetwork
Expert (CCIE) certification. It is a high level exam for IT professionals who have
a very good understanding of IP, IP routing, non-IP desktop protocols, as well
as bridge and switch-related technologies. A CCNP, CCDP, CCIP or CCSP are
logical, yet not mandatory prerequisites for this set of exams. Passing the
written exam is a prerequisite to taking the corresponding lab exam.
Cisco does not
publish the pass score for the written exam: “Pass marks are set by using
statistical analysis and are subject to change.” This
exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions and lasts 2 hours. The
lab exam is a one day eight hour practical exam. In terms of its scoring: Each
configuration scenario and problem has pre-assigned point values. The candidate
must obtain a minimum mark of 80% to pass.
the hardest exam out there. Don't waste $300 if you don't understand the technologies in depth.
"F" is not for "Fantastic"

Eep - wrote this one twice, bombed badly both times. Studied a bit of CCO, got the new Flashcards from Cisco, did the Boson exam prep, studied, studied, studied - almost all books are now obsolete! Have my CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP, and doing routers for 3 years, still no dice....be sure to be prepared for this one. Most material doesn't come close to really preparing you for this one...
Passed on Second try

Passed by 1% not much but I'll take it. The exam seams simple but there is heaps to know and the questions are tricky. The Current books do not seam to cover the wireless requirements for the exam so I suggest studying this component as much as possible (WLSE, SWAN, WDS etc.) The rest is pretty much what I said in the previous posting. I completed the Exam in 1Hour so I was not short on time. Beware trick questions is all I can really say.
Failed (Must readf broud doco)

Failed by 2%, QOS was what killed me. I would suggest the Sybex book to start TCP Routing Vol 1 & Vol 2. CCIE Fash card book and of course extensive research on the CCO web site. The exam was 100 Questions pass score 70% (May vary but thats what I got). You can also review the questions and go back and forth. Be prepared do not read any one book read as many as you can get you hands on and know the core subjects as recommended on the CISCO web site. Redoing the exam next week hopefully I will pass next time.
Failed First Time

Failed. I guess I took this test for granted given all my Cisco experience. Be warned - it's the "little" things that are gonna stump you. Read everything and be sure you know EVERYTHING on the blueprint and then some...
Will be going back next week...Hopefully I'll pass this time..
