SYNOPSIS
The Certified Internet Webmaster’s Master CIW Web
Site Manager is a high level, vendor-neutral, certification for IT professionals
who have proven proficiencies in basic networking, Web site design techniques,
Web authoring and scripting languages, and server administration. The Master
CIW Web Site Manager builds on Web skills necessary to act as Webmaster for a
business or department. While achieving the Master CIW Web Site Manager certification,
the candidate will achieve the CIW Associate and CIW Professional certifications.
The
Master CIW Web Site Manager certification emerged in the fall of 2000. In terms
of recertification, CIW exams may be retired for various reasons, including
release of a new exam series, changes to related certification programs, or
determination by the IT industry that a job role has become obsolete. Once
retired, the exam is no longer available at testing centers, although in some
cases candidates can still apply credit for a retired exam version toward a
multi-exam certification. CIW offers six months' prior notice for retirement of
any exam so that interested candidates have time to prepare and take the exam
while it is still available.
Job roles of those pursuing this certification
typically include: Webmaster, intranet or extranet Web administrator, or
Internet project manager.
