EXAMS: STUDY TIPS

Relates to: Oracle8i DBA OCP
To pass any of the OCP-DBA exams, you need a combination of
reading (exam-oriented books or study guides), hands-on experience, and practice
test questions. If you are experienced, you will not require classroom
training. However, if you are new to Oracle or this exam topic, a course would
be highly beneficial.
Reading:
The main Oracle manual to study for this test is the Net8
Administrator's Guide.
Some other recommended books include:
Oracle8i Networking 101, by M.L. Theriault (Oracle
Press, 2000).
Oracle8i DBA: Network Administration Exam Cram, by
B.A. Pascavage (Coriolis, 2001).
Oracle Net8: Configuration & Troubleshooting, by
Gennick and Toledo (O'Reilly, 2000).
Hands-on:
Preferably you can get this experience at work (and not have
to spend all your personal time studying). If not, you can get a copy of
Oracle Enterprise Edition with a limited license to install under Windows,
Linux, or Unix from any number of books you’ll see on the shelves at B.
Dalton’s or Barnes and Noble.
Sample questions:
You get 15 sample tests with over 1,000 questions for all the
OCP-DBA exams in the book Oracle 8i: Certified Professional DBA Practice
Exams, by J. Couchman (Oracle Press, 2001).
Self Test Software has excellent exam-oriented questions you
can order for less than $100 per exam from
