KnowledgeNet is an online training company. They can be found at
http://www.knowledgenet.com. Online training is very similar to the
traditional training classes that have been offered in the past. The course
materials are the same but the delivery method is different. Utilizing a web
browser wit the Flash plug in and a telephone for delivery of the audio you
are able to attend a live class and there are many other features that
go beyond the traditional learning environment.
Online
Training
KnowledgeNet delivers the same classes you would go and take
at a training facility. KnowledgeNet is a Microsoft Certified Technical
Education Center, a Cisco Systems Learning Partner and a CompTIA training
center. This means that you will get the exact same course materials as you
would going to your local training center - the same manuals, lab manuals,
CD ROMS of materials etc. This shows that KnowledgeNet is teaching the
proper information in each class that they make available to their
customers. This also shows that they have met certain criteria set by each
vendor to prove they have the knowledge and training capabilities to perform
this training task.
Online training just makes the delivery mechanism
easier for most people. Instead of making travel arrangements, being away
for 3-5 full days and then taking long days of class you are able to
take a class in a more relaxed atmosphere. The graphics and labs are
delivered through a web browser over the Internet. The live audio is
delivered via a telephone connection to a conference connection. This
immediately cuts the travel cost out of the training
picture.
Interaction is available through a variety of methods. First
in the live class you can post a question via your web browser for an
answer. Secondly, the phone lines are opened up occasionally to see if there
are any other questions or comments. Next the mentoring process will bring
you from just touching on the material to knowing the
material.
Product offerings
KnowledgeNet offers many
different products that when bundled together make up an excellent training
program. The primary product is the KnowledgeNet Live product. Next is the
KnowledgeNet Express and then finally is the Mentoring process.
The
first product is the KnowledgeNet Live product. This product consists of
taking a class for 3 hours a day, twice a week and can run from 2-6 weeks. A
team of instructors and other support staff delivers this live content.
There is a primary instructor and a secondary instructor in each class.
To help them is a mentor that mans the incoming questions from the class
audience and will occasionally provide input into the topic at hand. Other
support staff members are around to help in the audio and multimedia
delivery as well as a producer etc that do not partake in the class
teachings.
The instructors are very knowledgeable. Like anyone they can
be stumped but these instructors will go the extra mile to get you an
answer and then email you and the entire class with it. The ability to have
multiple instructors is a great benefit because nobody can know it all. By
combining the knowledge of multiple people KnowledgeNet can deliver the best
information to its students.
The next product is the KnowledgeNet
Express. This product is very similar to the KnowledgeNet live product
except that it is not live and interactive. It is prerecorded. This is a
great leap in training since before you could never go back and repeat a
topic in the class unless you paid and attended the entire class over again.
For 6 weeks you can review and replay any or all parts of the course as many
times as you want. This allows repetition to step in and take a firm hold in
your memory. The more times you go through a given set of material the
better you know it and this is a great feature of KnowledgeNet.
Also, how many times have you faded during a class or lecture? Come
on, you know who you are? Watched the sights outside the window or just kind
of daydreamed about something else, to finally awaken to not knowing what
was just explained. Also, if you are a busy administrator you might need to
be called away from the class when a critical problem arises. The
KnowledgeNet Express allows you to replay those sections of the class
you missed while you were either physically or mentally gone from the
class.
To go along with the Live and Express products is the
KnowledgeNet Interactive. This allows you to perform the lab exercises
that go along with the course material. The...
